Farther north, Pevnost Kravař (formerly Ota) overlooks the northern bank of the Dyje river about a half day's ride northweest along the river from Porta Germaniae. Directly north of the Foedus, about twelve miles, lies the recently constructed Templar commandery and vinyards at Čejkovice. Farther north still, about 35 miles from Porta Germaniae, is the city of Brno, seat of the Markrabě and the second-largest city in Moravia. To the west of Porta Germaniae is the smaller city of Znojmo, about fifty miles from the Foedus following the north bank of the Dyje River. Farther north from Porta Germaniae, about fifty miles along the west bank of the Morava river, lies the small village of Kroměříž, notable only as being the site of a Diocesean Synod. Ten miles north of Kroměříž, the market town of Přerov is a more significant settlement, although it lies several miles east of the Morava river. The largest city in Moravia is Olomouc, seat of the Bishop of Moravia. It lies about 25 miles north of Kroměříž on the east bank of the Morava (a total journey of about 75 miles from Porta Germaniae, or 40 miles northeast of Brno). To the northwest. along the route across the mountains to the capital at Praha, lie the Templar commandery at Tempelstejn (about a day's ride) and the Royal mint and fortress at Staré Hory, at the Jihlava silver mines (about two days' ride).
