This large four-wheeled wagon, or carrum, is about four feet wide and twelve feet long at the bed, with high sloping sides and a driver seat just behind the partial front wall. The center panel of the right side is hinged to serve as an access ramp. Four shallow arches support a stretched canvas cover, with an awning over the front. From bed to the top of the arches, the wagon is about eight feet high, with another two feet from the bottom of the wheels to the bed, for a total ground height of just over ten feet. Each carrum has a functional limber and may be harnessed to a team for mundane movement. Suitable horse collars and harnesses are typically stored beneath the driver's seat when not in use.
A carrum is enchanted to move through the air at speeds as fast as a flying bird, or along the ground on its wheels at a reduced pace, at the direction of the driver. The driver must be on the carrum and possess a special ring keyed to the enchantment to issue commands, and must concentrate to change direction or speed, although the carrum will maintain its altitude, speed, and direction of travel without concentration by the user. Control by the user is based upon the result of a Finesse roll, with higher speeds or more difficult maneuvers necessitating higher Finesse results.
The front panel, facing the driver's seat, is carved with an image of an auroch head and inlaid in bright yellow enamel. The brass/silver alloy rings keyed to this enchantment bear an auroch head in bas relief, with matching yellow enamel.
This carrum luteum was enchanted by Aurelius Aestivus Bonisagi and Astrea Jerbitonis in 1275 AD.
