Paula Vedunia is a petite woman with long blonde hair and a friendly disposition. She was born 'Little' Reet, the daughter of Taisi from Morava vesnicka. Discovered to have an unusual spiritual ability as a child, the magi confirmed her Gift, pronounced her protodiscipula, and sponsored her education at  Foedus. Arcturus Picae initially took an interest in the girl, but after a visit to Crintera, lost interest in her as a possible apprentice. At the request of Danalia, she apprenticed to Yarok, a short, odd Russian healer, who calls himself a Vedun.

In 1251 AD, Sameen claimed Reet as her discipula with Yarok's blessing, and Reet decided to use her nickname as her given name, but in Latin: Paula. Sameen and Yarok have each trained Paula in their separate traditions. Paula thinks that perhaps one day, she will be able to merge her two forms of magic.

Paula speaks Czech, Latin, and Arabic, and has been heard to speak in other languages as well; she resides with her husband & custos Tarvydas in Sanctum Paulae. Her faerie friend Vaporala ('Smokewing') often accompanies her.
