Obluda ("monster") appears to be a large statue, a chimaera to frighten away evil spirits. He is, however, a magical being devoted to guarding his locus defensoris against all threats. His body is formed of dark basalt stone, in the shape of a bestial humanoid with clawed hands and feet, large bat-like wings, the head of a dog, and curved ram's horns.

Magi of Porta Germaniae encountered this chimaera while on a journey in a distant fantastic locale. The chimaera adopted them as his wards, and followed them home to the Foedus, where he has been ever since. He has never given a name for himself, but covenfolk at Porta Germaniae called the "statue" Obluda ("monster"). He seems to respond to that name, insofar as he responds to anything, which is seldom. 

He seems to be unaffected by The Gift or other magical natures in any manifestation, although his own magical nature causes most to feel a strong sense of dread if they become aware that he is anything more than a statue. He has developed a friendship with Discipulus Matyas Depennatus, however, and moved to Arx Caeles to be with his friend.

Obluda rarely moves. He typically squats motionless on Tectum above Solarium Grandis. Few have seen him fly, although sometimes at night he will take to the skies around Arx Caeles, watching and listening as he glides silently through the air on enormous wings, and sometimes he will fly with Matyas Depennatus.

Obluda understands German (Bavarian dialect), but rarely speaks. He seems to slowly be gaining an understanding of Czech.
