ycaneon occupies a beautiful hill overlooking the southwest shore of Lake Balaton. In the eyes of mundane visitors, the conventum is simply a pleasant kastély (manor house) to the southeast of Badacsony hill, close to the track that leads from the Benedictine monastery at Zalavár. The conventum lies below ground, in a massive cavern with branching tunnels extending out from a central Foramen, or cavity.
