arpathia Nova sits on a small island in the middle of a mountain lake. Fed by two streams, the water level in the lake can vary by as much as five paces throughout the year. An immense tower, anchored on and encompassing the island, soars over one hundred feet into the sky. Even so, its top does not rise above the surrounding peaks.
A supporting settlement, surrounded by a high stone wall, sits on the saddle of a ridge about five hundred paces to the northwest. A second, larger lake lies below the settlement, and fields line the stream that flows down from that lake to the northwest. Terraces line the mountainsides above the larger lake. |
