| Description | ||
| This is fairly representative of the most common defensive Sorcery paradigm. A shield of "solid" Flux is an obvious choice as a defensive medium, given Sorcery's strength in the Flux dominion. Sorcery is weaker in the Creation Archetype, however, limiting this kind of defense to a moderate power level. Because the scope is typically lesser than an equivalent attack form, the edge goes to defensive paradigms in most energy vs. energy battles. Specialty versions have been created which incorporate illusory effects, allowing the caster to make the "armor" appear as any kind of covering - gleaming mail, an inhuman costume, or even ordinary clothing. Careful observers may notice some distortion around the face, unless an illusory mask is added or the face is left unprotected. | ||
| Effects | |||
| Sorcerous Armor creates a thin layer of force Flux - energy that resists all physical attacks through it. This effect is obtained by specifying Elemental Earth effects, in addition to the Defensive Conflict component. The typical appearance of this effect is a glowing golden aura around the recipient, like a second skin. | |||

(1 point or more) Diminish is useful for an optimized version, allowing the paradigm to be cast quickly in a conflict situation (8 points Optimized) |
||
| Notes | ||
| A version incorporating illusion (sight only) would cost an additional 2-6 points (Slight Image, Slight Illusory Effect), while one which incorporated hearing and touch as well would add 11-23 points (Slight Image, Impressive Illusory Effect). | ||
| More powerful versions are certainly possible, especially for a fully optimized version of the paradigm. The maximum defensive strength for a basic version would be about 14-15 points of Defense Value (14 points if the caster wanted to, say, Maintain the effect), because of the Configuration Might limits of Sorcery. A 12 point version would also allow Diminish, for quick casting. | ||
