Description
Itasu Bronze Skin is an involved method of making magical bronze armor that exactly copies the form of the wearer.  The armor is obtained by rubbing a Transformation / Organic ointment into the skin of the recipient.   This ointment also contains Mystical Orichalcum dust in a suspended form.  The Transformation effect turns the outermost layer of the recipient's skin into bronze and bonds with the Mystical Orichalcum.  The ointment/skin/bronze then hardens into a permanent bronze sheathing within moments.  The bronze layer of skin is then "shed" by the recipient over the course of a few hours, leaving a paper-thin layer of bronze / Orichalcum alloy in the shape of the recipient's body.  This is done for whatever portions of the body that need armor.  Each section of the body is done in stages, so that the layer can be more easily removed upon hardening.  Over the course of several weeks or months, this process is repeated at least a dozen times.   The recipient must be allowed sufficient time to replace the lost skin layer between applications.  Other alchemical ointments may be used to speed the process of skin creation.  Even so, several days should be allowed between applications.  Once a dozen or more layers of bronze skin have been obtained, they are bonded together and fashioned into a custom-fitted set of armor for the recipient.   Because the resulting bronze is alloyed with Orichalcum, the resulting armor is more easily enchanted, and polishes to a bright gleaming golden color.  Itasu artisans often add decorative flourishes, such as engraved or etched "tattoos" on the surface of the armor.  Such a set of armor is incredibly expensive, and therefore serves as an instant indication of status and power.
