Income: The Covenant raises cattle and sheep, as well as providing healing to the local villagers in exchange for grain and vegetables. Wool and meat trade with Ypres and Clan Somerled brings in supplies and some silver as well. The Covenant also produces some additional quantities of parchments and blank books for sale or trade, and has established simple weaving/dyeing and glassblowing operations (about 150 pounds surplus each year). However, the Covenant is obligated to provide 10 grogs each year during the spring and summer to the mainland Laird who claims the island, and the Covenant must also protect the village and act as judges for the island. | Vis Supply: The Covenant has a steady source of 10 pawns from mistletoe gathered each
midwinter. This provides the Covenant with Creo, Herbam, and an occasional pawn of Vim vis. In addition, the Covenant has collection rights for magical crystals which form in a cave on the mainland during the summer. These can provide Rego, Terram, Imaginem, or Vim vis, 10 pawns in all. The Covenant has an arrangement with a local Fey Prince as well. He provides Fey Elderberry Wine (5 pawns, random varieties) in exchange for a visit every autumn by a new person. The Covenant collects a pelt from a family of mystical Dire Cats on nearby Ifreanda Caitin Elan ("Hell Cat Island"). The female dies after giving birth each spring, and the Magi can collect 5 pawns of vis (3 Animal, 1 Creo, 1 Perdo, and possibly 1 Vim) from its body if they can avoid or drive off the immortal male, Mor Maer Caitin. The Covenant collects mystical raven droppings which provide up to ten pawns of Corpus, Animal, or Herbam vis per year. A pool of bubbling mud in the caves beneath the Covenant provides up to ten pawns of Muto, Terram, or Aquam vis per year. Ten pawns of Creo, Muto, or Rego vis per year are provided by a Diedne artifact discovered by Asperus. Five pawns of Imaginem vis are collected from a mainland source of bottled swamp fire each year. Five pawns of Auram vis are collected from magical thistledown each year. (+8) |
